Carlo Ancelotti Explains Jesus Vallejo’s Absence from Real Madrid Squad

  • Jesus Vallejo has barely featured for Real Madrid this season
  • Ancelotti prefers to use younger players despite defensive injury crisis
  • The defender’s contract is expiring, limiting his future opportunities

Vallejo Remains Forgotten Despite Madrid’s Defensive Woes

Jesus Vallejo has become a forgotten figure at Real Madrid this season, despite the club facing an injury crisis in defense.

With top target Leny Yoro joining Manchester United and Nacho Fernandez departing for Saudi Arabia, Madrid’s defensive options have been stretched thin. Midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has been forced to play as a makeshift center-back, while youngsters Raul Asencio and Jacobo Ramon have been promoted to the senior squad.

Yet, Vallejo remains unused, having played just ten minutes in a single appearance against Alaves in September.

Ancelotti Explains Vallejo’s Strange Exclusion

With Madrid now set to face Manchester City without a first-team center-back, many have questioned why Vallejo remains on the sidelines.

However, Carlo Ancelotti has clarified the situation, denying that there is any personal issue with the player.

“Absolutely nothing is going on with Vallejo. The problem is that his contract is ending, and we prefer to give minutes to the young players,” Ancelotti explained.

Despite being a specialist in the position, Vallejo has never truly cemented himself as a key player at Madrid. His career has included loan spells at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Granada, where he struggled for consistency.

With his contract expiring in the summer, it seems his time at Real Madrid is quietly coming to an end.
