Amorim on Rashford’s Exclusion: “I’d Play the Goalkeeping Coach Before Him!”

The uncertainty surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United continues, with Barcelona showing strong interest in signing the English forward during the January transfer window.

Rashford has been completely frozen out by United boss Ruben Amorim, having been left out of the squad for Sunday’s 1-0 win over Fulham, as well as being in the stands for Thursday’s Europa League clash against Rangers.

Amorim’s Strong Words on Rashford

When asked about Rashford’s absence in a post-match press conference, Amorim gave a blunt and direct response:

“If nothing changes, I won’t change. I’d play the goalkeeping coach before a player who doesn’t give his best every day – in training, in life, in every detail. I won’t change on this matter.”

Barcelona’s Interest in Rashford

According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford is pushing hard to secure a move to Barcelona. However, the Spanish club faces financial obstacles, as they would need:

  • United to cover part of Rashford’s wages
  • To offload a current player to accommodate his salary

Rashford, however, is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to escape his situation at United and complete his move to Spain.

What’s Next for Rashford?

With Amorim standing firm on his decision and Barcelona interested but facing financial hurdles, Rashford’s future remains uncertain. Will he force a January move, or will he remain out of favor at United?
