Mohamed Salah has revealed his desire to win another Premier League title with Liverpool before departing Anfield. The Egyptian forward, currently in the final six months of his contract, remains uncertain about his future but has made it clear that lifting the league trophy again is a key goal.
Salah’s Motivation for the Season
Salah, who has been heavily linked with a summer move—particularly to the Saudi Pro League—has emphasized the importance of adding to Liverpool’s trophy cabinet before the team’s core group of players moves on.
“My motivation this year was really to win a trophy and be a big part of winning that trophy, especially the Premier League,” Salah told Liverpool’s matchday program ahead of their clash with Ipswich Town.
Reflecting on the team’s success in recent years, Salah noted:
“Almost half of the team that had been here when we won [the Premier League] has left. There is still me, Virgil [van Dijk], Trent [Alexander-Arnold], Ali [Alisson], Joe [Gomez], and Robbo [Andy Robertson]. So, I think it’s necessary to win another trophy before we all go.”
He added:
“We won almost everything, but we won [the Premier League] only once, so hopefully we can win it twice. It would be great.”
A Record-Breaking Career at Liverpool
Salah also reflected on his incredible consistency at Liverpool, having scored at least 20 goals in each of his eight seasons at the club—a rare achievement for a winger.
“That is something incredible, something I am very proud of. I worked very hard for that,” Salah said.
He highlighted the difficulty of maintaining such a high level:
“Being a winger and scoring goals that make a difference in the game is quite hard. People may appreciate it more in the future. It’s not easy at all because it’s very tricky to find a winger who scores 20 or 30 goals for eight years in a row.”
Salah admitted that his consistency might be taken for granted:
“Sometimes when you do things every day and every year, people just think it’s not hard. But actually, it’s not easy.”
What’s Next for Salah?
While Salah’s commitment to Liverpool’s success this season is clear, his future at the club remains uncertain. Talks over a contract extension are ongoing, but a summer departure is a strong possibility. Salah’s potential exit would mark the end of an era for Liverpool, leaving fans to cherish his contributions and records.
For now, Salah is focused on leading Liverpool to another Premier League title, determined to leave the club on a high note.
