Official Response from Santos on Signing Neymar

Marcio Calves, an advisor to Brazilian club Santos, has addressed rumors surrounding the potential return of Neymar Jr., currently with Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, during the ongoing winter transfer window.

Neymar’s name has been heavily linked with a move back to Santos, the club where he began his professional career, following speculation about his departure from Al Hilal.

In comments highlighted by Saudi publication Arriyadiyah, Calves spoke about Neymar’s possible return:
“Perhaps this period, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.”

When asked about the likelihood of the deal being finalized within 48 hours, he added:
“We have to wait.”

Negotiations Underway

Reports suggest that Santos officials are actively negotiating with Neymar in an attempt to secure his signature during this transfer window. However, the final decision rests with the Brazilian superstar, who has yet to make his intentions clear.

This comes after Al Hilal coach Jorge Jesus decided to include Neymar only in the club’s Asian Champions League squad, excluding him from domestic competitions following the team’s exit from the King’s Cup at the hands of Al-Ittihad on penalties.

Neymar’s Performance with Al Hilal This Season

Neymar joined Al Hilal on a two-year deal but has had a challenging stint so far. He has struggled with injuries, including a cruciate ligament tear, which sidelined him for a significant portion of the season.

In the current campaign, Neymar has only managed to feature in two matches in the AFC Champions League, failing to register a goal or assist.

Santos fans and management remain hopeful for his return, but the situation remains uncertain as negotiations continue.
