The French players’ union (Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels) has officially named Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé as Ligue 1 Player of the Month for January.
The 27-year-old winger, formerly of Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, has been in exceptional form since the start of the year.
Dembélé’s Incredible Form
- The Frenchman has scored 13 goals in all competitions since January, including eight in Ligue 1.
- He leads the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts with 16 goals.
- Dembélé scored a hat-trick against Brest last week and followed it up with two goals against AS Monaco on Friday.
This is Dembélé’s first Ligue 1 Player of the Month award since March 2016, when he was a breakout star at Rennes.
Impact on PSG’s Tactics
Dembélé’s clinical finishing has given PSG head coach Luis Enrique more tactical flexibility:
- Bradley Barcola has been deployed as a right-winger.
- Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, PSG’s new signing from Napoli, has taken up the left-wing position.
What’s Next for PSG?
Les Parisiens will face Brest on Tuesday in the Champions League play-off round first leg as they look to continue their impressive form.
