Wolves Stand Firm on Star Forward’s Future
Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira has made it clear that Matheus Cunha is not for sale, despite reported interest from Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian forward has been a standout performer for Wolves this season, scoring 10 Premier League goals and proving to be one of the club’s brightest sparks in an otherwise challenging campaign.
However, with Arsenal searching for attacking reinforcements and Forest also looking to bolster their frontline, speculation has grown over a potential big-money move for Cunha.
Cunha’s Exceptional Form Draws Attention
🔹 The former Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig attacker has been clinical in front of goal, with an impressive +5.47 expected goals (xG) overperformance this season.
🔹 His efficiency places him third in the league, behind only Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) and Chris Wood (Nottingham Forest).
🔹 Arsenal, in particular, have seen a drop in attacking numbers this season, averaging fewer goals, shots, and xG per game than last season.
🔹 Forest, meanwhile, had a £20 million bid rejected for Yoane Wissa earlier this week, highlighting their desire to add firepower in the January window.
Pereira: ‘Cunha Is Not for Sale’
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash against Arsenal, Wolves boss Pereira dismissed any speculation of Cunha’s departure, stating:
🗣️ “He is my player – I think he is not for sale. This is the information from the club.”
While Pereira had previously criticized Cunha’s body language after their 3-1 defeat to Chelsea, he reassured fans that their relationship remains strong.
🗣️ “He knows what I want from him as a captain. We had a conversation, and everything is sorted. He is ready for the game, committed to us, and ready to help the team.”
Will Arsenal or Forest Test Wolves’ Resolve?
Despite Wolves’ stance, a huge offer exceeding £80 million could still tempt the club into negotiations.
With Arsenal actively seeking a forward and Forest chasing a top-four finish, it remains to be seen if either club will return with an improved bid before the January transfer window closes.
