English footballer Jesse Lingard, now playing for South Korean club FC Seoul and formerly of Manchester United, has found himself in a heated exchange with some Red Devils fans.
Lingard (32) has had a turbulent career since leaving Manchester United for Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022. After parting ways with Forest, he remained without a club until he joined FC Seoul in February 2024.
A Manchester United fan account on X (formerly Twitter) posted a video showcasing one of Lingard’s stunning goals for the club. However, not all responses were positive.
One fan wrote:
“Jesse, Pogba, and Rashford destroyed the culture of Manchester United. Even Rooney admitted it. The club allowed these three to have their own culture after Sir Alex Ferguson left.”
Lingard responds
The English star didn’t stay silent. He replied via his official X account, questioning:
“Please explain to me how I destroyed Manchester United’s culture along with Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford?”
Another fan responded to Lingard with a more supportive message:
“Jesse, we will always love you… but has life in Korea become that dull? You shouldn’t argue with a nobody. You’ve won important trophies—hold your head high.”
Lingard laughed and replied:
“No, my friend, Korea is amazing, I love it, and I’m not arguing with anyone. I didn’t even read the comments properly, but I had to respond to that chaotic accusation!”
“We played for the biggest club in the world”
The conversation between Lingard and fans continued on X, with another fan commenting:
“Jesse, you made us play exciting football, which some foolish haters of this club didn’t like just because you danced and enjoyed yourself.”
Lingard responded:
“We were enjoying life because we played for the biggest club in the world. Of course, we made mistakes and learned from them, but we will always enjoy, smile, and dance.”
He later shared some supportive messages he had received from Manchester United fans, posting them with the caption:
“After reading these wonderful comments, good night. More love, though—the club will always have a very special place in my heart.”
